What is the Inner Child?
It is a personality where childhood experiences, emotions, and memories remain in the unconscious and influence current life even after becoming an adult. There is a happy 'Wonder Child', but the neglected or hurt 'Wounded Child' is the problem.
Signs of a Wounded Child
- Excessive fear of rejection
- Perfectionism craving validation from others
- Difficulty regulating emotions and impulsive behavior
- Fear of forming intimate relationships
How to Heal?
- ** When emotions run high, recognize "Ah, the child inside me is anxious."
- ** Talk to that child. "Were you scared? I will protect you now. You are safe."
- ** The mature 'Me' of now gives myself the love and support that I didn't receive in childhood.**
